My philosophy is: If we truly are what we eat, then our food choices also involve a complex interplay between physiological, environmental, psychological, social and emotional factors.
This philosophy, together with the belief that “knowledge is power”, forms the basis of my treatment.
As a consulting dietitian in private practice, I have realized one of the major predictors of success is understanding the role of food – whether it be in maintaining health, controlling appetite, fueling hunger (both physical and psychological), managing disease or managing weight.

Two years ago I reached rock bottom with my health. I’d just been diagnosed with diabetes, was overweight, eating very badly and knew I had to change my lifestyle. I began seeing Heidi and through constant re-education, she somehow got me to acknowledge my lifetime of bad habits one week and one phone call at a time. Over the course of a year I lost 25kg and I completely changed the way I ate and felt. Heidi’s plan has enabled me to sustain the weight loss and lifestyle program. Her motivation, education, eating plans and constant reassurance and support have got me to a place I never dreamed of being and I now have a new way of living - healthy and happy.

2011 was a time for change. After having had a stent, I was badly overweight and I knew I needed to do something immediately. Enter Heidi Lobel.
With her initial guidance, I lost about 12kg in a year. It was actually quite easy. But maintaining the weight loss has been the hard part. Over the past 8 years, I have had a few lapses, which thankfully I have managed to overcome very quickly.
Without Heidi’s continual help, invaluable knowledge and expertise, not only have I been able to maintain my initial 12kg loss, recently I have managed to lose a further 3kg. Lessons learnt from Heidi are still to this day invaluable. What I follow is truly a lifestyle programme that I am able to follow for the rest of my life.

After gaining more than 30kg in my first pregnancy, I thought it would be easy to lose the weight. However, 2 years later I was still 20kg above my pre-pregnancy weight and I realized it was time to “stop blaming the baby”. Through Heidi’s guidance and support I identified and changed my bad behaviours. More importantly, I began to recognise the diet mentality and my irrational thought processing around food that prevented me from achieving any significant, sustainable weight loss results. Through behavioural change, a balanced eating plan and my new found love for exercise, I lost in excess of 20kg and have never looked back. One of the important keys to my success was the bi-weekly monitoring, which I kept up over many, many years, never missing a session, especially when times were tough. 16 years later (and two further pregnancies), I still check-in regularly to make sure I stay within my target range.
